Today we have a repeat guest columnist from the ranks of SCMAP.

Arnel Gamboa was the 2013 president of SCMAP. He has just been reelected president for year 2014.

We reproduce his speech at the induction ceremony held last Friday, February 7, 2014.

Arnel has been the editor-in-chief of the official newsletter of SCMAP, the Supply Chain Philippines, for the past two plus years. He is a seasoned practitioner and resource speaker in supply chain with focus areas in cold chain, FMCG distribution, retail-supply networking, demand planning and supply chain ICT. He is the head for supply chain at Benby Enterprises, Inc., the leading distribution company for imported world-renown food, personal and home care products.  — Ed Sanchez, Executive Director

2014 brings the “Year of the Horse” at the pinnacle of SCMAP history by way of its silver anniversary! While 2013 highlighted major milestones in the existence of SCMAP both to the industry and its membership, this year will be marking a cross-roads that will forever change the FACE of SCMAP.

More vibrant, and certainly more dynamic – SCMAP will be reinventing itself to adjust to the changing times as it has done over the years. The thrusts of SCMAP commonly known as ACE or Advocate, Communicate and Educate will have a new element on board as it seeks to reach out to a broader spectrum of demanding new age customers – Fun.

Fun will bring members to work closer on programs and foster camaraderie. Fun will make SCMAP’s views more accessible and understood by a wider audience of supporters. It will give SCMAP a new FACE in a new era – enabling it to do more with less.

As SCMAP embarks on its “road to gold” this year, several earmarked events and programs are now being prepared to ensure this year will be memorable and enjoyable. There will be fun events such as bowling, badminton and fun run. The in-house seminars will be seeing a reboot this year as a more comprehensive training calendar and program is now in the pipeline. There is also the plan to install another chapter to seal the deal in making SCMAP’s coverage national. All these activities will lead and culminate in our year’s big event, the Annual Conference.

So sit back, relax and enjoy! SCMAP’s journey has just begun.

Cheers and congratulations to the new board of directors and officers!

Best regards.
