The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is launching on December 20 PPA TV, the agency’s weekly news platform on its social media platforms. The digital news platform will cover transport and industry-related news, as well as promote tourism in locations where there are PPA port terminals.

PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago said PPA TV is the agency’s way of tapping technology to get closer to the people.

“What we plan to do is, we want to take advantage of the online platform to show, No.1, what the recent developments are, and so far, how we support the community’s concerns,” Santiago said.

“Of course, we will also dedicate the platform for public service. Primarily, since we’re part of the Department of Transportation, we will air transport-related news. We will also provide updates or news from those departments that are part of the PPA family. ”

Santiago added that PPA TV would feature lifestyle segments and tourist attractions.

“PPA TV will also feature human interest stories about people whose lives have changed because of the livelihood that they were able to have through the port industry,” Santiago said.

He said PPA TV aims to reach a wide spectrum of mainstream audience, along with port stakeholders and government agencies connected to PPA.

“This news platform will help the stakeholders. But definitely the target audience is the mainstream audience, [people] who have no idea whatsoever about what PPA is all about, or what’s going on in the port community,” Santiago said.

“And we want them to know more… considering that we are an island nation, we’re an archipelago, we cannot escape the fact that we have to be connected.”
