Customs commissioner Isidro Lapeña has appointed four acting district collectors at the ports of Batangas, Legazpi, Manila International Container Port (MICP), and Subic.

Atty. Balmyrson M. Valdez, Atty. Ma. Rhea Gregorio, Atty. Edward Ibera, and Michael Angelo DC Vargas took their oath of office on August 23.

Valdez is back in MICP as acting district collector, replacing OIC Fidel Benigno Villanueva, who has been charged, along with other BOC MICP employees, for allegedly colluding with an importer to smuggle sacks of sugar into the country. Valdez was district collector of MICP from January to March, and head of BOC’s Legal Service prior to his new appointment.

Atty Rhea Gregorio is the acting district collector for the Port of Subic.

Gregorio is acting district collector of the Portof Subic, replacing Segundo Sigmundfreud Barte, Jr. after he failed to meet the port’s July revenue target. Prior to her appointment, Gregorio was acting deputy collector for passenger services at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and has held various positions in different BOC offices.

Ibera is also back in Batangas port as acting district collector, replacing Reynaldo Galeno.

Vargas is acting district collector of Legazpi, replacing Arsenia Ilagan.
