The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has for the second straight year received high satisfaction ratings for its integrity, port facilities, and services, according to results of the Development Academy of the Philippines’ (DAP) latest annual port users’ satisfaction survey.

The survey of port users nationwide showed PPA received a satisfaction rating of 4.43—equivalent to “Very Satisfied”—for integrity, the second year in a row PPA received such a score, the ports authority said in statement.

In 2018, PPA had a satisfaction rating of 4.40, also equivalent to Very Satisfied. Both reviews follow the same score sheet where 5 means Very Satisfied, 4 Satisfied, 3 Neutral/Neither Satisfied nor Dissatisfied, 2 Dissatisfied, and 1 Very Dissatisfied.

PPA also received high ratings for port facilities, with a rating of 4.36, similar to its rating in 2018. Port facilities include passenger terminal buildings, cargo yard, marshalling areas, berthing facilities, warehouses and cargo-handling equipment.

In terms of services rendered, satisfaction rating is 4.25, with PPA maintaining its 2018 level.

DAP conducted the survey for PPA as part of the requirement of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations) for the conduct of a third-party customer satisfaction survey of GOCCs, such as the ports authority.

Respondents to the PPA survey were various port users including passengers, shipping lines, trucking groups, logistics service providers, and PPA concessionaires like cargo-handling operators and ancillary service providers. A total of 2,519 survey samples were gathered in 2019, representing all ports nationwide.
