THE Philippine Ship Agents Association (PSAA) will focus on expanding the membership of the group and publishing a book on ports, according to its leaders.

The new PSAA officers for the coming year were inducted last week. They are Virgilio Angeles, president; Arnel San Diego, vice-president – internal; Leo Philip Buñag, vice-president – external; Walter Coronel, secretary; and Ruben Santos, treasurer.

The new board of directors includes Federico A. Acosta, Ernan de Leon, Alfred Hernandez, Joselito Ilagan, Virginia Madlang-awa, Rogelio Salonga, Abraham Tablizo, Jesus Verocel, Raoul Viray and Robert Yu.

Angeles, in an interview with PortCalls, said the association will focus on expanding its membership and “to help each and every member improve their business.”

The PSAA has 45 members.

“My plan is to visit each and every member,” Angeles said, adding that there are fewer than 50 non-members who will be targeted by PSAA for its expansion.

Meanwhile, former PSAA president Madlang-awa said the association intends to launch a port information book in the first quarter of 2014. The book, which will provide information on all major ports in the country, was one year in the making, she said.

The PSAA will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.
