PH extends uniform truck ban

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has extended the modified uniform truck ban ban for another six months from July 6 until January 5, 2014.

Under the ruling, cargo trucks and other heavy vehicles weighing more than 4,500 kilograms are banned from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day except Sundays and holidays.

Trucks loaded with perishable and agricultural cargoes are exempt.

A total truck ban on Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) from Magallanes, Makati City to North Avenue, Quezon City will be implemented the whole day from Monday to Sunday.

MMDA said there are currently 39,543 trucks plying the roads of Metro Manila daily. Of this number, 12,004 trucks enter the city from the North Luzon Expressway; 11,116 from the South Luzon Expressway; 9,910 from Rizal and 4,641 from McArthur Highway.
