Aviation professionals in the Philippines are undergoing a civil aviation master planning (CAMP) training course by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to develop competencies for the expected formulation of an aviation industry master plan aligned with the national development plan, according to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista.

“We can extract from this CAMP Course project the appropriate competencies to develop a comprehensive plan for civil aviation that is aligned with national development plans,” Bautista said at the launch of the CAMP training course on April 17. The training will last until April 21.

“Different civil aviation [professionals] will be able to formulate, develop, and implement the most forward-looking civil aviation master plan for our country,” he added.

Organized by ICAO and funded by the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund of China, the CAMP training course is designed to address the critical needs of managing civil aviation master plans of states, as well as to integrate the civil aviation sector into overall national development plans.

This joint project between ICAO and China aims at providing quality and competency-based training opportunities to 500 participants nominated by 60 member states in 2022 to assist the states to better recover from the pandemic and build a more resilient aviation system for future growth.

CAMP also provides senior and middle managers of a country’s civil aviation authority with the competencies required to develop, implement, and update a civil aviation master plan that includes the recovery from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, following relevant ICAO provisions.
