  • A portion of Roxas Boulevard will be closed at night starting January 20
  • Affected areas cover from EDSA Extension to Bradco Avenue-southbound
  • The closure gives way to the installation of the main girder, launch of support beam and span for the Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension project

Starting January 20, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will close a portion of Roxas Boulevard at night.

From EDSA Extension to Bradco Avenue-southbound, the closure will give way to the installation of the main girder, and launch of support beam and span for the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension project, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The Cavite extension project will extend the LRT Line 1 system from Baclaran, Parañaque to Bacoor, Cavite and cut travel time between the two areas to 25 minutes from the current 1.5 hours.

On January 20-21, southbound lanes will be closed at certain hours between 10 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. The northbound lane and service road will remain open.

On January 21-22, northbound and southbound lanes will be closed at certain hours from 10 p.m. to 6:30 am. Open to traffic is the service road.

On January 24-25, the southbound lane will be closed to traffic at certain hours between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m.

On January 23, the northbound and southbound lanes, and the service road will be closed from 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

The intermittent work schedule is due to power interruption in the area while construction is ongoing, MMDA said.

Motorists are advised to take these alternate routes:

• From EDSA Extension crossing Roxas Boulevard turn left at Macapagal Avenue.

• Going southbound take the service road of EDSA flyover and turn right at EDSA Extension.

MMDA said directional signs are posted to guide motorists.
