P80M in smuggled goods seized in Bulacan

Various smuggled goods worth an estimated P80 million were seized by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) during a joint operation at a warehouse in Pandi, Bulacan.

The operation was conducted on January 26 by operatives from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port, National Bureau of Investigation, and Philippine Coast Guard who were armed with a letter of authority and mission order.

Discovered were imported unregistered mosquito coils, motorcycle parts/accessories, kitchenware, TV antennas, power tools, infringed toys, and books, among others.

The smuggled goods will be subjected to seizure and forfeiture proceedings for violation of Republic Act (RA) No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, and Section 1113 (Property Subject to Seizure and Forfeiture) of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

In 2021, BOC recorded 1,006 seizures of shipments with an estimated value of P28.426 billion.
