Government operatives seized approximately 38 kilos of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, with a street value of P262.2 million during a buy-bust operation in Angeles City, Pampanga on October 18.

The encounter also yielded other pieces of evidence such as four caliber .45 pistols, two mobile phones, a weighing scale with charger, four genuine P1,000 bills, boodle money, and a box of transparent plastics, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said in a statement.

The operation was conducted by a composite team of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, BOC-Manila International Container Port’s Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Task Force Noah, AFP Northern Luzon Command, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, and Philippine National Police.

The buy-bust operation was a follow up of an October 16 operation in Cavite where approximately 240 kilos of shabu worth an estimated P1.656 billion were seized and two individuals were arrested.

The Pampanga seizure was pursuant to Sections 119 (Restricted Importation and Exportation) and 1113 (Property Subject to Seizure and Forfeiture) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

From January to September 2021, BOC said it has already seized P7.421 billion worth of smuggled illegal drugs.
