Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has added a new sling to its existing KTX suite in a drive to offer a more expansive intra-Asia coverage.

The new service, called the KTX5, employs two 1,500-TEU (20-foot-equivalent unit) container ships, and was officially launched September 16 with the inaugural sailing from Xiamen, China.

“The KTX5 provides a comprehensive supplement to our service network in the KTX Suite by covering Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xiamen and Japan,” OOCL said in an online statement.

The KTX1, KTX2, KTX3, and KTX5 will provide a competitive service network for customers trading between Southeast Asia, north Asia and Japan, the Hong Kong-based shipping line said.

KTX5’s port rotation is Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, and back to Kaohsiung.
