DHL Global Forwarding, the air and sea freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group, now offers ocean freight forwarding for exclusive, temperature-sensitive food in small amounts from Germany and Europe to Asia via its new Cool LCL Service.

To ensure that chocolate and pastries from Europe arrive in their best quality in Asia, a consistent cold chain with temperatures between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius is necessary. Previously only full container loads (FCL) or air freight was available for this kind of transportation. But through the Cool LCL Service, customers can now ship smaller amounts cost effectively as well via groupage freight.

“The demand for European specialities and exclusive products is constantly increasing all over the world,” said Bernhard Stade, vice president for Ocean Freight Management Germany, DHL Global Forwarding. “Therefore, we have combined our expertise in temperature-controlled goods with a new customized solution. With this new service our customers will also have more new business opportunities, because small amounts can always be sent freshly. Plus, the storage at the place of destination is no longer necessary.”

Every week, the goods are transported by ocean freight from Hamburg to Singapore for further distribution. On request, temperature-sensitive food from all over Europe can be transported to the DHL logistics center in the port of Hamburg for shipping to Singapore. Further destinations like Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York, and Santos will soon be added.
