A ferry service between Cavite and Metro Manila intended to ease congestion in the NCR is set to be operationalized by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

The new  service will be operationalized in two phases with four routes as follows:

Phase 1: Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/Sangley Port to SM MOA Ferry Terminal; and Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/Sangley Port to CCP Port.

Phase 2: Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/Sangley Port to Escolta, Manila; and Metro Star Ferry Terminal (Cavite City Hall)/Sangley Port to Lawton Ferry Terminal.

The dry run for Phase 1 is expected to be conducted in the first week of December in cooperation with the Philippine Ports Authority, Philippine Coast Guard, and other agencies such as Philippine Navy, Department of Public Works and Highways, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Laguna Lake Development Authority, and the local government units of Cavite and Manila.

MARINA said shipping companies such as Shogun Ships Co., Inc., Starlite Ferries, Inc., Seaborne Shipping Lines Inc., and Pinoy Catamaran Corp. have shown interest in operating on routes under the new service, while other shipping companies are also being encouraged to consider deploying their ships to these routes.
