Korea-based carrier Namsung Shipping Co., Ltd. recently announced the appointment of AAI Freightmovers Worldwide Inc. (AAIFWI)-Shipping Division as its general agent in the Philippines effective August 18, 2011.

Founded in 1953 as the first private ocean-going shipping carrier in Korea, Namsung Shipping provides liner container shipping services in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Namsung Shipping’s long-term relationship with clients along with experience acquired from almost 60 years in the shipping business has made the organization one of the most reputable and financially-stable shipping companies in Korea.

Namsung Shipping operates 18 owned vessels and an array of chartered ones. Initial scope of operations in Manila will be shipper’s own container (SOC) services from Thailand and export from Manila to Japan baseports, via co-loading arrangements with established feeder carriers in the region.

In the future, other routes will be added to the Philippine service using Namsung Shipping’s own vessels.

“We welcome the trust and investment of our Korean principals to the Philippine market which we are committed to reciprocate in terms of utmost importance,” AAIFWI president and CEO Fernando Navarra Jr. said in a statement.

AAIFWI is the ship agency and seafreight forwarding group of the Airlift Asia Inc. (AAI) Group of Companies. This marks its first venture as an exclusive and general agent for an international carrier.
