Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) announced it will apply bunker compensation (BUC) on cargo from the Far East to the Mediterranean and North Europe.

The bunker compensation will be imposed on services from Asia to West and East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea, the UK, North West Continent, Scandinavia/Baltic, and North Africa.

The BUC is US$860 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU), to be implemented from September 1, the Geneva-based carrier said in a press statement.

At the same time, a peak season surcharge (PSS) will be levied on the Cheetah service from Asia to South and East Africa, Indian Ocean, and Mozambique.

From September 1, a PSS of $300 per TEU is to be imposed on shipments from any Asian port to these destinations.
