  • The upgraded New Origami Service that includes Manila and Subic is part of a revamped Intra-Asia network of the Swiss shipping company
  • MSC’s new and upgraded services will all be in effect by November

Geneva-based Mediterranean Shipping Company, or MSC, revised its intra-Asia network on October 9, moving Manila and adding Subic to an upgraded loop service that originates and ends in Japan.

MSC said in a press release its new and upgraded services will all be in effect by November.

Manila North Harbor and Subic were added to the loop of the upgraded New Origami Service, which will be offered by the MSC Ameera III HI244A. The vessel will arrive on October 30 in Tokyo, the start of the loop.

The upgraded service offers new connections from Japan and South Korea to Vietnam and from the Philippines and Taiwan to South Korea and Japan.

Previously, the Philippines was included in the Seahorse service that connected Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Jakarta, Yantian, Kaohsiung, Manila and Vung Tau.

As part of this latest network revamp, the first sailings will be as follows:

  • Dolphin– MSC Cape III HV244A, ETA Shanghai November 2. This is a new service that offers direct and fast connection from China to Indonesia and between Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and China.
  • New Origami – MSC Ameera III HI244A, ETA Tokyo October 30. New connections from Japan and South Korea to Vietnam and from the Philippines and Taiwan to South Korea and Japan.
  • Seahorse– MSC Collette III HO244A, ETA Shanghai November 4. This is an upgraded service with enhanced transit time from China and Taiwan to Malaysia and Singapore.
  • Seagull  Xin Bin Zhou HU244A, ETA Shanghai November 1. This is a revised service with a new added call to China (Xiamen) and revised Malaysia rotation.
  • Orchid – MSC Kerry HD244A, ETA Fuzhou November 3. This is a revised service with an amended rotation in South China and adjusted rotation in Malaysia.

This is the fifth time that MSC revised Asia network since 2018 to position itself in areas of strong growth in the region to capitalize on their lucrative trade.

“These enhancements to our intra-Asia network offer direct connections and comprehensive port coverage between Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia, while maintaining competitive transit times for long-haul cargo,” MSC said.
