• NCR Plus (Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan and Rizal) will be under an extended enhanced community quarantine for another week to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases
  • The strictest form of quarantine will be from April 5 to 11

The enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) will be implemented for another week in  NCR Plus, areas covering Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna and Rizal, or from April 5 to 11, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque announced over government-run PTV on Saturday (April 3).

The extension of the strictest form of quarantine came amid a continued surge in COVID-19 cases.

The Philippines on Saturday recorded 12,576 additional COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 784,043.

NCR Plus was first placed under ECQ from March 29 until April 4.

The Department of Health and the OCTA Research group earlier proposed a one-week ECQ extension to curb spread of COVID-19.

The enforcement of the “Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat and Reintegrate (PDITR)” strategy will be intensified during the ECQ, according to Roque.

Going “door to door to find those with symptoms and subjecting them to PCR testing and isolation” is part of the PDITR strategy, he said.
