Two European logistics companies have opened warehouse complexes in Auckland, New Zealand.

Netherlands-based CEVA Logistics opened a multi-user warehouse facility in Auckland on August 9 to strengthen its international airfreight, sea freight and contract logistics operations in the country.

The 177,500-square-foot complex is located within the Auckland Airport Business District, the largest transport hub in New Zealand that also provides easy access to the Auckland region and is within 35 kilometers of both the Auckland CBD and Port of Auckland.

The logistics center supports the company’s existing facilities in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.

“The new facility will extend the reach of our integrated freight management and contract logistics service capabilities across both the North and South Islands of New Zealand and into Australia and the Asia Pacific region, which is becoming increasingly important to our customers,” said Grant Lowe, CEVA’s New Zealand country manager.

Kuehne + Nagel also inaugurated a new warehouse facility in Auckland recently. The 86,000-square-foot site includes a 65,000-square-foot outdoor secure yard for handling and storing cargo.

It is the Swiss forwarder’s third such facility in New Zealand and will supplement the company’s two existing facilities.

The warehouse will address the outsourcing needs of the company’s growing customer base, according to Troy Hageman, group managing director.
