Airlines AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific, and Cebgo have extended their local and international flight cancellations to April 30 following government extension of the Luzon enhanced community quarantine until the end of the month to stop the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Philippine Airlines (PAL) also announced its domestic flights are suspended until April 30 after earlier announcing the extended suspension of its international flights until end-April.

AirAsia, in an advisory on April 8, said it is making provisions for guests affected by the flight cancellations and travel restrictions following the Philippine government’s latest directive. Guests with existing flight bookings made on or before March 22, 2020 with departure date until May 31, 2020 will now be able to select from a range of extended flexibility options for future travel.

AirAsia said guests can also make changes to their travel plans even after the community quarantine period and may utilize the airline’s online support team once restrictions have been lifted.

Cebu Pacific, meanwhile, is providing added flexibility for passengers who have booked flights from May 1 to September 30 but who may wish to change their travel plans. Cebu Pacific is offering, free of charge, rebooking to any other travel date within one year, or the airline can also place the full cost of the ticket in a travel fund, now valid for one year.

Customers of Cebu Pacific Cargo, on the other hand, may contact (+632) 8802-7070 or email cargocare@cebupacificair.com.

While operations for April are suspended, PAL said it will continue to consider operating ad-hoc special flights to retrieve stranded passengers. It will also be operating cargo flights to keep intact critical supply chains across the Philippines and within the Asia/Pacific region.

PAL, in a statement on April 7, said it intends to resume flying by May 1, 2020, “if allowed by government authorities, global public health conditions and the travel environment.”

In an advisory on April 6, PAL said it is planning to operate a reduced number of weekly flights from May 1 to 31 on its routes to Japan, the USA, Canada, Guam, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Macau, Saudi Arabia and Korea.

However, PAL will not be operating any flights to and from the following international destinations for the month of May: Auckland, New York JFK, Dubai, Doha, Perth, Melbourne, Port Moresby, and Sapporo. All flights on these routes are cancelled for the month.
