Kerry Asia Road Transport (KART), a member of Hong Kong-listed Kerry Logistics, has launched a new trucking service connecting Shenzhen and Hanoi via its Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-China road network.

KART’s less-than-truckload (LTL) scheduled twice-weekly service will initially connect the industrial cities in southern China and northern Vietnam, providing shippers and 3PLs with a fixed-day dedicated service.

The company said it plans to expand this service to other city pairs.

KART, an ASEAN-wide road transportation service, connects China (Shanghai, Shenzhen, Kunming) to ASEAN countries (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, and Singapore).

The city-to-city direct service will lead to improved efficiency, reduced inventory, and just-in-time delivery, said Alex Ng, general manager of KART.

“It is very exciting that there are new industrial and commercial centers developing along the road network connecting ASEAN and China and we are forecasting significant growth and additional city-to-city services in the future,” he added.

“There is demand from shippers for a service that matches airfreight for transit time and is more cost effective. By road we can deliver to the heart of Hanoi and Shenzhen which is much quicker than by ocean.”

The service will depart Shenzhen for Hanoi on Tuesdays and Thursdays and Hanoi to Shenzhen on Wednesdays and Fridays. KART has also extended its door-to-door connectivity in China and Vietnam through its domestic courier services to ensure fast delivery throughout both countries.
