Port operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc’s (ICTSI) cargo-handling contract at Makassar Container Terminal in South Sulawesi, Indonesia has been extended to 2023, the company said in a recent disclosure to the Philippine Stocks Exchange.

The original contract was set to expire on September 30, 2013.

ICTSI subsidiary PT Makassar Terminal Services (MTS) operates container-handling equipment at Makassar under a joint contract with state-run Pelindo IV, which owns and operates the terminal. In May 2006, ICTSI purchased 95% of the outstanding shares of MTS, cargo handler at the Makassar, from Portek Systems and Equipment Pte Ltd. of Singapore and Indonesian liner, PT Pelayaran Nusantara Meratus.

Makassar Container Terminal has an annual capacity of 450,000 twenty-foot equivalent units.
