The Association of International Shipping Lines (AISL) recently held its 8th Annual Fellowship Golf Tournament at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Cavite with 132 players joining, making this year’s tourney one of the group’s biggest ever in terms of participation.
At the February 24 event, Jude Eustaquio emerged as the Low Gross Champion. Andrew Cañete (Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation) bagged the Class A championship, Hector Miole (Philippine Ports Authority) was the first runner-up, and Jay Valdez (International Container Terminal Services, Inc.) wound up in second place in this class.
For Class B, Renesa Samala was declared champion, followed by Robert Ahn (NextDoor Logistics) in first place and Vincent Albert (Yusen Logistics Philippines, Inc.) in second.
Class C winners were led by champion Sam Ramos (COSCO Container Lines). First runner-up was Klaus Schroeder (Hapag-Lloyd Philippines, Inc.), while second runner up was Pablito Atacador.
Although the event kicked off in a somber mood because of the recent demise of golf committee member Nestor “‘Toti” Gimenez of OOCL, it went on to become a rousing success, with the proceeds going to charity as part of AISL’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
AISL president Patrick Ronas said that apart from the CSR aspect, the event is also held yearly to strengthen camaraderie among members of the organization, which is committed to being the voice of the liner industry.
