FedEx’s new Taiwan station has officially opened in Taoyuan City as FedEx Express positions itself for growth while helping local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) capitalize on the city’s huge development potential.

The company said in a press release on September 5 that the FedEx Taoyuan Pingzhen Station will significantly improve the efficiency of pickup, delivery, and self-dropoff and pickup services in southern Taoyuan City.

These services will give the SMEs in Taoyuan access to FedEx services and faster connection to the world.

FedEx’s new Taiwan station covers an area of 634 pings (roughly 2,100 square meters) and is equipped with 20 vehicles. The service area covers Zhongli District, Pingzhen District, Yangmei District, Guanyin District, Xinwu District, Longtan District, and Daxi District in Taoyuan City.

FedEx said the Pingzhen Station will greatly improve its operational efficiency in Taoyuan.

“According to data released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs in 2021, 8% of Taiwan’s SMEs are located in Taoyuan City, the only city with positive population growth among the six special municipalities, which are Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung, demonstrating its huge development potential,” said Michael Chu, general manager of FedEx Taiwan.

“With the opening of Taoyuan Pingzhen Station, FedEx aims to help local business development and bring the convenience of fast international logistics services to both local cross-border e-commerce businesses and general customers.”

In the first half of 2022, the import and export values of the Taiwan market were at record highs, with export value reaching US$246.68 billion, an increase of 19.2% over the same period last year. The import value reached $218.97 billion, up 24.8% year on year.

In response to the booming import and export market, FedEx said it is committed to helping enterprises to use international logistics services nearby by adding service points in Taiwan, enabling businesses to respond fast to customer needs and enter foreign markets.

FedEx service stations in Taiwan include nine FedEx Express stations, 11 FedEx World Service Centers, and more than 7,000 FedEx Express authorized shipping centers.

FedEx said it is continuously optimizing and updating its service options to help enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region enter the international markets.

Nearly a decade ago, FedEx Express extended cutoff times by two hours for outbound shipments from Taiwan to the United States to provide local electronics manufacturers and SMEs more time to prepare and manage their exports and supply chains.

In April, FedEx expanded its break-bulk shipment service, FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution®), by shortening transit times from 2-4 days to 1-3 days for shipments from Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.

FedEx International Priority® Express’ launch in January offers customers the flexibility to schedule delivery by 10:30 a.m. or noon to select destinations worldwide.
