The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized last June 14 various counterfeit items with an estimated market value of P1 billion from a storage facility in Magallanes, Makati City.

BOC operatives and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines conducted the joint operation that led to the discovery of various counterfeit items bearing trademarks such as Lacoste, Michael Kors, Macbeth, Adidas, Chanel, Givenchy, Oxygen, Guess, Coach, Gucci, Wrangler, Fubu, Zara, Reebok, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, Jag, Tribal, Bench, Calvin Klein, and ESPRIT.

In a statement, BOC said a further investigation is underway for the possible violation of Section 118 (f) of Republic Act (RA) No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. The section prohibits the importation or exportation of infringing goods as defined under the Intellectual Property Code and related laws.

Investigation will include possible violation of RA 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
