DHL Global Forwarding-Freight has expanded its door-to-door concept in intra-Asia Pacific with the launch of an intercontinental door-to-door distribution system from Asia-Pacific to Europe.

The expanded DHL Door-To-More service is being offered out of Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore to over 50 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.

New outbound gateways will be added soon, DHL Global Forwarding, the air and sea freight division of Germany’s Deutsche Post DHL, said in a statement.

DHL Door-To-More combines the company’s intercontinental air freight transportation capabilities with its European ground distribution network. The logistics conglomerate said this translates to a shorter time for customers to market their goods.

The door-to-door service includes customs clearance, a single billing service, and end-to-end online track and trace capabilities.

“As a seamless distribution solution, DHL Door-To-More significantly reduces the complexity of supply chains,” said Amadou Diallo, CEO of DHL Freight.

He added that a web-based application enables easy booking and shipment preparation and provides end-to-end shipment transparency down to piece level.

Using a  single platform, the service covers every aspect of transporting goods from customer warehouses in Asia directly to multiple destinations across Europe.

It addresses the need of the technology sector for direct distribution to its end-customers, the company said.

“The technology industry, with its high pace of innovation and short product cycles, requires cost efficient and flexible supply chain solutions,” said Rob Siegers, president and global head of technology at DHL. “The concept of direct distribution from manufacturing to end customers improves the time to market at minimum inventory cost and reduces the number of handover points.”
