DELTA Airlines recently filed a petition before the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) seeking to impose a fuel surcharge due to high fuel prices.

The airline plans to levy a $45 fuel surcharge between the Philippines and Japan (each way) and a $100 surcharge between the Philippines and the United States (each way).

For travel between the Philippines and Area 1 (North and South America continents and adjacent islands such as West Indies, Bermuda, Caribbean Islands, Greenland, Hawaii and Midway-Palyra Islands), the US carrier is eyeing a $150 surcharge each way.

A hearing on the petition has been set on May 28, 2010.
