Germany’s contract logistics provider DB Schenker plans to establish in Singapore a US$3.7-million supply chain solutions center for electronics and industrial manufacturers in Asia, the first such facility the company will build outside Europe.

The center in Singapore will develop customized manufacturing logistics solutions and accelerate their roll-out for customers within Asia.

“We are pleased that DB Schenker has decided to make Singapore the home for its first global solution competence center outside of Europe,” said Kelvin Wong, executive director for logistics of the Singapore Economic Development Board. “The center will be able to leverage Singapore’s lead market to develop innovative supply chain solutions and capture new growth opportunities in Asia.”

Over the next five years, the center is expected to expand to more than 20 specialists supporting production vendor-managed inventory (PVMI) installations.
