Contract logistics and supply chain company DB Schenker Logistics will build a new integrated logistics center at the Tampines LogisPark, Singapore, close to Changi International Airport.

The EUR41-million facility will have a floor area of about 54,520 square meters spread across three floors.

Slated for completion in the second quarter of 2014, it will house products from various industries, including those in health care, electronics, and automotive.

“This new facility represents our largest investment in the region to date and acknowledges the continued attractiveness of Singapore as a location to conduct logistics operations. This facility is a key element of our shared logistics center strategy that will see many new sites developed across the Asia Pacific Region in the coming years,” said Darren Wedding, senior vice president of Contract Logistics/SCM, Region Asia Pacific.

Meanwhile, Catapult International, provider of international logistics software, announced it will open a new office in Hong Kong as part of its network expansion in Asia.

The new office will be headed by Vince Fung, a 20-year veteran in the ocean shipping industry, as its managing director.  The company also has an office in Cebu, Philippines, and another in San Francisco, California, and has its headquarters in Kansas City. An office in Hamburg, Germany, will open in March.
