DACKS launches 24,188-TEU OOCL containership
  • Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd has launched the 24,188-TEU container ship built for OOCL

Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) recently launched the 24,188-TEU container ship built for OOCL.

It is the second ship of its kind built by DACKS, marking the launch of a new mode of shipbuilding characterized by continuous dual-yard operation for the world’s ultra-large container ship, the company said in a statement. The first was the containership OOCL Spain.

The container ship has a length overall of 399.99 meters, molded beam of 61.3 meters, and molded depth of 33.2 meters. It is one of the largest container ships in the world with the most container slots.

Compared with similar ships in the market, DACKS said the ship has undergone low-resistance form optimization, adopted the self-developed hull structure whole life cycle intelligent safety management system and a 45-foot container double-lashing scheme, and installed the newly developed energy-saving devices such as bulbous bow and propeller deflector, in addition to the world’s largest-capacity high-efficiency permanent magnet shaft generator system.

Through the application of a range of new technologies, the ship boasts significant advantages for its environmental friendliness, energy conservation operation, huge loading capacity and high intelligence, with fuel consumption, container load, and operation efficiency and safety all reaching the world’s advanced level.
