Aboitiz Construction, Inc. has completed the construction of Davao International Container Terminal’s (DICT) Berth 4, expanding the Mindanao gateway’s berth length to a total of 600 meters.

Berth 4, which was completed last March, is 33 meters wide and 177 meters long, and has a connecting bridge access and a mooring dolphin, Aboitiz Construction said in a statement.

Berth 4 is an extension of Berths 1 to 3 and allows the terminal to moor three units of Post Panamax vessels.

A total of 1,965 precast pile caps, beams, girder and t-beams were installed while two barges and four cranes were used for installation works.

Aboitiz Construction said the expansion will increase the turnaround time for loading of vessels, as more vessels can now dock at the terminal to bring more produce and agricultural products in and out of the region, potentially creating demand.
