Clark International Airport operator Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD) has appointed Noel Manankil as its new chief executive officer, succeeding Bi Yong Chungunco.

Manankil assumed the position on August 20, a day after Chungunco’s retirement on August 19.

Manankil is not new to LIPAD. He was appointed executive vice president for commercial development, external relations, and legal compliance in March.

Prior to LIPAD, Manankil served as vice president for administration and finance and later as CEO and president of Clark Development Corp. from 2016, succeeding Arthur Tugade, who was appointed secretary of the Department of Transportation. Manankil held the post until he resigned in 2020.

In August 2019, LIPAD was awarded the 25-year concession to operate and maintain Clark International Airport.

The airport’s passenger terminal building was officially opened on May 2, 2022. The facility is projected to triple CRK’s operational capacity from the current 4.2 million passengers to 12.2 million passengers annually. It is also envisioned to help spur economic progress and development in Central Luzon, and ease congestion at the country’s main gateway, Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Formally turned over to LIPAD in January 2021, CRK’s second passenger terminal is a state-of-the-art international hub equipped for contactless baggage handling, passenger check-ins and check-outs, and an ordering system aimed at making air travel hassle-free and effortless. It will also host 18 aerobridges when completed.

LIPAD is a special purpose company composed of various firms, including Filinvest Development Corp., JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions Inc. and Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pte Ltd.
