The Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested the claimant of a package containing P5 million worth of ecstasy declared as women’s clothing.

The arrest came after BOC and PDEA conducted a controlled delivery operation in Cebu City on July 18, 2022, the BOC said in a statement.

The package originated from the Netherlands and was found to contain 2,984 pieces of ecstasy with an estimated value of P5,072,800.00.

In coordination with regional PDEA and law enforcement agencies, the team arrested the claimant for possible violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Dangerous Drug Act, and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

BOC-NAIA in partnership with the NAIA-Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) and PDEA remains active in intercepting illegal drugs and protecting the borders.

There were 31 drug-related busts in 2019, 43 in 2020, and 57 in 2021.

BOC-NAIA under District Collector Carmelita Talusan said the port district continues to tighten border security efforts even as it strengthens partnerships with other agencies not only on illegal drugs but on other goods illegally imported under the CMTA.
