Chelsea inaugurates latest RoPax ship

Chelsea Logistics and Infrastructure Holdings Corp. (CLIHC) has launched a new roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) passenger vessel (RoPax), its 11th RoPax to be made in Japan.

M/V Starlite Venus measures 97.78 meters in length with a carrying capacity of 740 passengers, 22 buses, and six trucks. The new vessel, constructed by Kegoya Dock Co., Ltd., is scheduled to be delivered in April 2020.

Every time we launch a brand-new vessel, we feel a sense of confidence [in] our business model and our commitment to provide better maritime transport for all Filipinos. We are certain that our close working relations with them will help Chelsea fulfill its domestic commitments and regional aspirations,” CLIHC president and chief executive officer Chryss Alfonsus Damuy said in a statement.

This newest passenger ferry ship brings CLIHC’s fleet to a total of 74 vessels, consisting of 22 RoPax vessels, 11 fastcraft, nine cargo ships, 16 tankers, 13 tugboats, and two floating docks through its subsidiaries Chelsea Shipping Corp., Starlite Ferries, Inc., Trans-Asia Shipping Lines, Inc., and Supercat Fast Ferry Corp.
