Challenges facing supply chain up at SCMAP conference

SCMAPThe Supply Chain Management Association of the Philippines (SCMAP) will hold its annual conference on September 18-19, 2014 at the EDSA Shangri-La.

 

The conference takes on extra significance as it coincides with the association’s 25th anniversary.

 

The two-day conference will take stock of the evolution of supply chain in the past years, the challenges facing it today, and what the future holds for an industry that is vital to economic growth and global competitiveness.

 

This year’s theme is SCMAP 25: Past, Present, Future A Shining Milestone in the Philippine Supply Chain Industry

 

The event’s keynote speakers are Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, who chairs the Senate committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship; Meneleo Carlos, Jr., private sector chair, Transport and Logistics Policy Networking Committee, Export Development Council; and Steven Cua, president of Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association.

 

Resource speakers that will tackle different supply chain and logistics issues include Emmanuel Bautista (executive director and head of ASEAN, LF Logistics); Joseph Nathaniel Aguilar (executive vice president and COO, Zuellig Pharma); Suzie Mitchell (country managing director, DHL Supply Chain Philippines); Christine Pardiñas (vice president for supply chain, Rustan Supercenters, Inc.); Enrique Castillo (president, Fast Logistics Corp.); Dannie Chiu (regional director, Southeast Asia and India, Hong Kong Trade Development Council); Dr. Shirlyn Reyes (fellow, Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers); Denis Nixon (executive director, Procurement and Supply Institute of Asia); Martyn Isbell (vice president for Business Development, Asia Pacific, Dematic Pty Ltd); David Abrenilla (founder, President and CEO, Mediacom Solutions, Inc.); Henry Batallones (country director, SSI Schaefer Philippines); J.D. Montelibano (Head for Product Management for Business Applications, Globe Telecom); and Dr. Albert Clavo (overseer and senior pastor, Lighthouse Christian Community).

 

SCMAP will also present to Aquino its joint declaration on port congestion, supply chain and economy, infrastructure development, and policy reforms and regulations that was an offshoot of the association’s recent CEO/CSCO (Chief Supply Chain Officer) Forum attended by different stakeholders.

 

Winners to this year’s Salute to Supply Chain Excellence Awards will also be named during the conference.
