Cebu Pacific resumed its Airbus 320 jetliner flights to Bicol, making their first touchdown at Bicol International Airport (BIA) in Daraga, Albay on May 1.

The carrier had operated 78-seater ATR turboprop aircraft to BIA since the new airport opened in October 2021. Cebu Pacific previously flew A320s on the Manila-Legazpi-Manila route before the Bicol Domestic Airport gave way to the new airport.

The addition of jet flights will enable the airline to serve more passengers, Cebu Pacific chief commercial officer Xander Lao said.

Dubbed as the “most scenic gateway”, BIA was inaugurated and started domestic operations in October 2021.

Cebu Pacific currently flies up to five times daily on the Manila-Legazpi-Manila route. It also operates flights between Cebu and Legazpi up to four times weekly every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Cebu Pacific earlier said it is set to restore 100% of its pre-pandemic capacity in April. It recently resumed more direct local flights from its major hubs Cebu and Davao to enable passengers to explore more local destinations without having to pass through Manila.

The carrier also continues to ramp up its frequencies on overseas routes following the easing of travel restrictions imposed two years ago when the COVID-19 contagion began to spread across international borders.

Currently, the airline’s network covers 34 domestic destinations and 14 international destinations.
