Cebu Pacific is launching flights between Manila and Laoag from May 22, further expanding its North Luzon network.

The daily Manila-Laoag flight will be the 35th domestic destination in the airline’s domestic network, Cebu Pacific said in a statement.

“Laoag plays a crucial role in preserving the country’s rich history and culture, and we are excited to finally be able to bring more Juans to this beautiful city,” Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said.

“We hope that the launch of the Laoag route will encourage more people to travel and experience the Ilocos region,” Lao added.

Laoag, which is just a one-hour flight from Manila, is the capital of Ilocos Norte and serves as a jump off point to many of the province’s most popular tourist destinations.

Visitors can go on a sandboarding adventure on the La Paz Sand Dunes, visit the centuries-old Spanish colonial buildings, and take photos with the sinking bell tower of the St. William’s Cathedral. From Laoag, travelers can also reach other attractions in the Ilocos Region such as the Paoay Church and the white sand beaches of Pagudpud.

Cebu Pacific currently flies to 34 domestic and 25 international destinations, spanning across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

For this year, Cebu Pacific expects to restore 100% of its pre-COVID network and capacity in March, aided by its seat sales, widest domestic network, and reinstatement of all its international destinations.

The airline will lease five aircraft in 2023 to address capacity and growing passenger demand. These are on top of the 10 new Airbus NEO aircraft that will be delivered in 2023 to expand the airline’s entire fleet.
