Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific resumed its direct flights to Sydney, Australia on July 1, following the easing of travel restrictions in both the Philippines and Australia.

Cebu Pacific operates flights from Manila to Sydney three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Flight 5J 39 departs Manila at 11:20pm and arrives in Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at 9:50am (local time) the following day. Its return flight, 5J 40, leaves Sydney at 11:20am (local time) every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrives in Manila at 5:50pm.

“With this route resumption, we are pleased to fly once again to and from this destination after more than two years. We know that many are excited to visit Sydney’s attractions like the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Bondi beach, Taronga Zoo and many more,” Cebu Pacific chief commercial officer Xander Lao said in a statement.

“This also allows Filipinos to reunite with friends and family. We will continue working on boosting seamless connections across our network to address demand.”

Sydney requires incoming tourists to present printed copies of their COVID-19 vaccination certificate when checking in at their ports of origin.

Travellers to Sydney must present copies of such certificate at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 check-in counter. They must also complete and submit online their digital passenger declaration forms at least 72 hours before departure.

Returning to Manila, Filipinos with booster vaccine shots no longer need to take a pre-departure COVID test.

The airline has been increasing its international services with the easing of COVID-related travel restrictions.

For the rest of 2022, Cebu Pacific sees a better business outlook driven by domestic recovery and re-opening of international destinations, the carrier said in an earlier statement.
