ceo searchEuropean freight carrier Cargolux Airlines International clarified that it is still conducting a CEO search and that “no decision regarding any successful potential candidate had been made.”

The official statement was made by the Luxembourg-based airline in response to recent media reports claiming otherwise.

“The global executive search and leadership consulting firm, Spencer Stuart, had been commissioned with identifying interested candidates and tasked with shortlisting the most suitable individuals for this post after the expiry of the application submission deadline of 12th February, 2014,” the statement added.

The governance committee of the board of directors, composed of representatives of the current four Cargolux shareholders, will review and interview the shortlisted candidates and make their recommendation to the Cargolux board of directors.

The CEO post is being held temporarily by chief financial officer Richard Forson. He took over in August 2012 after Frank Reimen stepped down as president and CEO that same month following his appointment as High Commissioner for National Protection by the Luxembourg government.

Last month, the airline announced the resignations of its chief operating officer and senior vice president of sales and marketing.

COO Peter van de Pas, who is also senior vice president, resigned effective March 31, 2014. He joined Cargolux in this capacity in January 2009 from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

On the other hand, Robert van de Weg, the airline’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, resigned from his post due to what the airline described as “differences with the Board of Directors regarding Cargolux’s strategy for the future.”
