At the third anniversary of the X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), Morales congratulated the XIP team for pulling the project off and ensuring its smooth incorporation into the customs system.

“Today we can say that we have already established the XIP as an integral customs process. There are more that could be done to further fine tune x-ray inspection in all ports, particularly in risk management,” he said in a speech.

“But I am confident that these areas are being addressed and that the best possible solutions are being considered to better improve the delivery of service and the tagging system of the XIP,” he added.

The challenge lies in continuing the culture of transparency, Morales said, adding that “The technology is tried and tested. It is the human aspect of the project that has to stay distilled.

“As we have fought for the integrity of the XIP in the past three years so it is your duty to always remain beyond reproach in your conduct as members of the XIP Team. All your actions should be consistent with the outstanding history the XIP team has so far maintained.”

BOC in the first four months of the year exceeded its target collection by P5 billion.
