BOC seizes ukay-ukay, counterfeit goods worth P500M

The Bureau of Customs recently apprehended various goods and ukay-ukay items amounting to about P500 million in Valenzuela City.

Armed with a Letter of Authority issued by BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, the implementing team composed of personnel from the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Intellectual Property Rights Division, National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine Coast Guard inspected the warehouse located at # 2 E. San Andres St., cor. T. Santiago St., Canumay West, Valenzuela City.

The inspection led to the discovery of bales of used clothing; power banks; face masks; apparel bearing the brands Gucci, Chanel, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton; pipe fittings, carpet rolls; refrigerant 22; caustic soda flakes; and Lushika (box of jewelries and watch), among others.

Further investigation and inventory is underway for possible violation of Section 1114 of RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) and the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
