The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P59.9 billion for September 2021, posting its highest monthly revenue to date.

The September collection is also 5.3% higher than its monthly target, and is the ninth consecutive month it exceeded its goal this year, BOC said in a statement.

Based on preliminary report from BOC’s Financial Service, eight out of 17 collection districts surpassed their September targets: Limay, Manila, San Fernando, Zamboanga, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, and Clark.

BOC attributed the positive collection performance to “improved valuation and intensified collection efforts of all the ports, improvement of importation volume and the government’s effort in ensuring unhampered movement of goods domestically and internationally considering the pandemic situation.”

From January to date, BOC took in P472.204 billion, 76.6% of the target collection of P616.749 billion for the whole year. The 2021 target is 22% higher than the 2020 revised target of P506.150 billion and 14% more than the P539.687 billion actual collection recorded last year.
