BOC official leads ASEAN committee on customs integration

  • The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has appointed External Affairs Office head Atty. Marietta Zamoranos as chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Coordinating Committee on Customs (CCC)
  • With Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero assuming chairmanship of the ASEAN Directors-General of Customs last June, the Philippines also took the responsibility of chairing the CCC
  • The CCC aims to further enhance the coordination of activities and actions toward ASEAN Customs integration

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has appointed External Affairs Office head Atty. Marietta Zamoranos as chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Coordinating Committee on Customs (CCC) as the bureau assumes the chairmanship of the ASEAN Directors-General (DGs) of Customs for the term 2021-2022.

Zamoranos, appointed by Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero through Customs Special Order No. 92-2021,will be CCC chair until the 31st ASEAN Directors-General meeting in June 2022, when Singapore Customs takes over the reins.

With Guerrero assuming chairmanship of the ASEAN Directors-General of Customs during the 30th ASEAN Directors-General meeting last June, the Philippines also took the responsibility of chairing the CCC, whose objective is to further enhance the coordination of activities and actions towards ASEAN Customs integration.

The CCC is also the regional coordinator of several ASEAN technical working and sub-working groups, namely, Working Group on Customs Enforcement and Compliance; Working Group on Customs Capacity Building; Working Group on Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation; Sub-Working Group on ASEAN Customs Transit System; Sub-Working Group on ASEAN Authorized Economic Operator Mutual Recognition Arrangement; Technical Sub-Working Group on Classification; ASEAN Single Window Steering Committee; and ASEAN Single Window Technical Working Group.
