The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P58.183 billion in July 2021, surpassing its monthly target of P53.751 billion by 8.2%, according to a preliminary report from the agency’s Financial Service.

For the first seven months of the year, BOC also exceeded its target collection of P345.584 billion by 4.15%, taking in P359.930 billion.

Fourteen of 17 collection districts hit their July 2021 targets: San Fernando, Port of Manila, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Batangas, Legazpi, Tacloban, Surigao, Cagayan De Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparri, and Limay.

BOC in a statement said it has been exceeding its monthly targets since 2020 despite the pandemic, attributing its performance to “improved valuation of the bureau, its digitized and modernized systems, the gradually improving economy resulting to higher volume of importations, and the intensified collection efforts of all districts.”

BOC has been tasked to collect P616.749 billion this year. Its 2021 revenue target is 22% more than its 2020 revised target of P506.150 billion and 14% up from the P539.687 billion actual collection in 2020.
