BOC inaugurates second x-ray machine in NAIA

The Bureau of Customs-Port of NAIA in partnership with the People’s Air Cargo (PAIRCARGO) on inaugurated the warehouse’s second X-ray machine on November 18, 2021.

The machine was procured by PAIRCARGO to bolster its processing and releasing capabilities.

The XIS-818 purchased from Astrophysics features a six-color imaging enabling it to scan various composition of materials. The scanner has a deep penetration capability so that nothing can be concealed during non-intrusive examination of parcels and boxes.

The event was attended by BOC Internal Administration Group Deputy Commissioner Donato San Juan along with Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan, PAIRCARGO President and CEO Joseph Madrigal, XIP Acting Chief Gen. Roberto Ancan, deputy collectors and officials of the BOC Port of NAIA and PAIRCARGO.

Talusan welcomed the addition of the new equipment and lauded the initiative of PAIRCARGO, saying the strong partnership between BOC and the warehouse has resulted in better service to importers and brokers.

BOC-Port of NAIA seizures for 2021 have so far amounted to P157,066,144.84.

At the PAIRCARGO warehouse, an estimated Php 95.42 million worth of unregistered medicines, smuggled luxury goods, and unregistered beauty products have been intercepted since 2018 to date.
