Barcelon keeps Philexport chairmanship for 2022-2023

George Barcelon was recently re-elected chairman of the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc.’s (PHILEXPORT) Board of Trustees and as trustee for the footwear and leathergoods sector for 2022-2023.

Trustee for the associate sector William Co was re-elected vice chairman.

Keeping his post as president is Sergio Ortiz-Luis, Jr., who is also representing the resource-based sector. Luis Sicat, trustee for the fine jewelry and fashion accessories sector, will continue to serve as corporate secretary.

Representing the metals sector, Bernardo Benedicto III was re-elected as treasurer.

Elected Board members were Engr. Eunina V. Mangio, associate sector; Dr. Francis C. Chua, automotive and automotive parts and components sector; Oscar A. Barrera, chemicals sector; Ferdinand A. Ferrer, electronics sector; Roberto C. Amores, fresh and processed food sector; Myrna C. Bituin, furniture sector; Diana H. Santos, garments sector; Milagros L. Lacson, holiday decors, gifts and premiums sector; Apolinar E. Aure, housewares sector; Jon Mykel V. Teodoro, information technology, products and services sector; Apolinar G. Suarez, Jr., non-metallic mineral manufactures sector; Robert M. Young, textiles and fabrics sector; and Dr. Guillermina T. Gabor, tourism sector.

“Being at the forefront of Philippine export development and promotion, PHILEXPORT remains committed to deliver its mandate especially as we reach our 30-year milestone this year. For as long as our resources and mandate will allow, we remain at the service of the industry and its stakeholders as we champion exports as the country’s major economic driver,” Barcelon said.

For his part, Ortiz-Luis said: “As we head towards our 30-year milestone, we acknowledge that PHILEXPORT is a work in progress. The organization continues to evolve to meet the ever-changing market demands and realities especially as we transition towards the technology-based fourth industrial revolution.In this context, we approach the new year with renewed hope and optimism, as we continue to deliver our programs, projects and services intended to help address present and future challenges. So far despite the disruptions, we are able to deliver export support with significant help from government and private sector cooperators and partners, including our members who had been the major driver behind our zeal to serve.”

PHILEXPORT is a private non-stock, non-profit umbrella organization of Philippine exporters mandated to develop and promote exports under the Export Development Act of 1994.
