APL, the container shipping unit of the NOL Group, released a customer advisory that, with the heavy flooding in Thailand, acceptance of inbound cargo at Klong Toey Port in Bangkok has been temporarily suspended by the Port Authority of Thailand.

All APL offices in the country remain open, the advisory said. “APL service at Laem Chabang Port and at its Lat Krabang container depot near Bangkok continues with normal operation,” the October 28 advisory said. “APL has developed contingency plans should flooding disrupt its activities in Bangkok.”

APL said it still accepts inbound bookings at Laem Chabang and Lat Krabang for dry containers, but has temporarily stopped accepting inbound refrigerated containers at those locations.

“APL is urging customers to clear cargo directly at Laem Chabang Port to avoid potential flooding risks in Bangkok. There are no restrictions on outbound bookings,” it said.
