The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have established a coordination center in a warehouse in Pasay City provided by People’s Air Cargo and Warehousing Inc. (Paircargo).

Formally inaugurated on April 12, the coordination center, an office in Paircargo’s public customs bonded warehouse at the NAIA complex in Pasay City, was created to support the government’s initiatives against the entry of illegal drugs.

BOC-NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan in a statement said the coordination center is “imperative to strengthen border security on any importation of illegal drugs.”

Talusan said the center is strategically placed “for importations from Paircargo accounts to the majority of importations coming through NAIA and accessible to the concerns of other six (6) warehouses” under the jurisdiction of BOC-NAIA collection district.

For his part, PDEA assistant regional director Irvin John Coderis said the center “will be very useful as our operatives can make timely response on anti-illegal drug related activities.” These responses include K-9 inspection, package profiling, backtracking investigation and apprehension of smuggled illegal drugs.

So far in 2021, coordinated efforts between BOC-NAIA, PDEA, and NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group have resulted in 28 drug busts.
