The northbound section of the Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension, the three-lane extension that connects the elevated Skyway to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) through the Alabang Viaduct, is slated for completion in the second quarter of the year.

“We are targeting completion of the northbound segment second quarter of this year while the southbound segment is being fast-tracked for delivery [in] September,” Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary Mark Villar said in a statement.

The 3.9-kilometer Alabang-Sucat Skyway Extension Project will provide convenient travel to motorists who will be diverted from the at-grade segment of the Skyway to the elevated link.

With 61% of the project already complete, travel time from the Skyway main line toll plaza in Sucat, Paranaque to Susana Heights in SLEX is expected to be reduced soon by around 50%, greatly easing traffic for those going home to the provinces, Villar said.

He also announced that the project includes widening of the Skyway Alabang Toll Plaza to accommodate more motorists both from northbound and southbound directions.

The P10-billion Skyway Extension project is a key feature of the 38-kilometer elevated Skyway system built by concessionaire San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The project extends the elevated expressway from the Skyway Main Line Toll Plaza in Sucat, Paranaque to Susana Heights at SLEX and back, providing motorists a direct connection to Skyway 1 and 2 and SMC’s recently opened Skyway Stage 3. It will also add three lanes going north and two lanes going south.

Once completed, the Skyway Extension will make travel to and from southern Metro Manila and southern Luzon provinces much faster and more convenient, especially with the new Skyway Stage 3 from Buendia, Makati to the North Luzon Expressway providing seamless connection to the north.
