TALKS for more flights between the Philippines and Hong Kong, China and Italy are in the works.

Negotiations are likely to begin next month, according to the Civil Aeronautics Board, possibly beginning with a Hong Kong meeting. Discussions with the former British colony come weeks after the botched hostage-taking at Quirino Grandstand which led to a travel advisory on the Philippines. Eight hostages died during the incident, most of them Hong Kong nationals.

Additional flights between the Philippines and China and Italy are eyed because of the steadily increasing air traffic on the routes.

The latest air deal between the Philippines and another country was signed last May with Singapore. Deals with Qatar and South Korea were also signed before the entry of the new administration.
