After a simple blessing of SCMAP’s office on Dec. 26, 2011, SCMAP started the new year with its first board meeting on January 6, 2012 to discuss the composition and leadership of the different committees.

On Jan. 11-19 SCMAP sent two participants to Japan’s AOTS training on Green Logistics, Christopher Borci of Zuellig Pharma and Evangeline Diche of Fast Logistics. The two are expected to cascade what they learned to SCMAP.

The communications committee met on Jan. 12. SCMAP then went brainstorming at its planning session on January 20-21 in Tagaytay. Basically the session’s output promises a different SCMAP in 2012 under the leadership of incoming President Ike Castillo.

On Feb. 3 SCMAP will hold its second board meeting mainly to prepare for the induction. On Feb. 10 the new set of directors and committee chairpersons will be inducted at the Palawan function room of the Edsa Shangri-la Hotel

The inducting officer and keynote speaker will be MMDA Chairman Atty. Francis Tolentino.

Below is the lineup of SCMAP officials who will be inducted. They will serve a one-year term.

Note that among the Board, there are only two new faces, Anna Quintos (Globe) and Sherwin Gonzales (Nestle). Ike Castillo is by no means new, having been SCMAP President in 2000 and first half of 2001. Among the committee chairpersons the new faces are Henry Batallones, Gus Arguelles, Carlo Curay and George Yumul.

On Feb. 14-17 SCMAP will send four delegates to the AOTS program Establishing the Logistics Qualification System to be held in Bangkok. They are Dennis Llovido, Ike Castillo, Arnel Gamboa and Carlo Curay.

And on Feb. 23 SCMAP will show a new version of the GMM, a one-day conference for SCMAP member companies.

In the midst of all that SCMAP found time to squeeze in a PPA meeting on mandatory weighing. If that is not a running start, I don’t know what is.
